Level One Fire Ban in Effect in South Frontenac April 12, 2023

Please be advised that effective Wednesday, April 12, 2023 a Level 1 Fire Ban is in effect in the Township of South Frontenac.

A Level One fire ban restricts open air burning for the purposes of burning grass, brush, or other combustible materials, but permits campfires and cooking fires as defined in the By-law 2012-68.

South Frontenac Fire and Rescue has responded to several fires in the past week due to dry burning conditions. Higher temperatures are forecasted this week and into the weekend...

Alton Road West Road Reconstruction Work to Begin

Construction will begin on a 3.7 km section of Alton Road West between Highway 38 and Loughborough Portland Boundary Road in May 2023.

• Work will begin in May and will take 10-12 weeks
• Work will typically be done between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm, Monday to Friday (if weekend work is required, we'll notify area residents)
• The road will be accessible at all times with one lane open. Expect traffic delays

April Service Changes

With April comes the first signs of spring, warmer temperatures (hopefully!), and some service changes due to the changing of the season and Easter holiday. Please note the following changes happening this month:

• Overnight street parking restrictions are lifted as of April 1, 2023
• Our Household Hazardous Waste Depot at 2491 Keeley Road returns to summer hours in April. The depot is open every Thursday from 3-8 pm. See the full list of acceptable items accepted at the depot here.

2023 Private Lane Upgrade Assistance Program Now Accepting Applications

The Private Lane Upgrade Assistance Program provides grants for residents who live on private lanes to upgrade their lane to improve access for emergency vehicles. Applications are now being accepted for 2023.

The Township may fund up to 50% of approved projects to a maximum of $7,000. Funds can only be used towards capital lane upgrades, not regular maintenance (see the list of eligible and ineligible items in the application).
