Landfill sites to reopen May 1, 2023

Our northern Bradshaw, Salem and Green Bay landfill sites will reopen May 1, 2023 for the summer season. Did you know South Frontenac has five landfill sites? To see the days of the week they are open, hours of operation and list of materials each landfill accepts, see this page on our website.

Our Household Hazardous Waste depot has also returned to summer hours and is open every Thursday from 3-8 pm at 2491 Keeley Road.

Not sure what can be recycled, put out in your regular garbage or what needs...

New Library Hours Starting in May 2023

The Sydenham, Hartington and Storrington branches of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library have new hours effective May 1, 2023. The Sydenham Library will now be open six days a week. Here are the new hours for the branches in South Frontenac.  For more information on the branch hour changes, see this page on the KFPL website.

South Frontenac Summer Kickoff Music Festival

If live music is your jam, you will want to head on down to Centennial Park in Harrowsmith on May 27, 2023 from 4-10 pm for the South Frontenac Summer Kickoff Music Festival.

The performing line-up includes fiddler Jessica Wedden, Verona-based singer songwriter Mellow Lily, country/rock singer Jay Smith, classic rock group Uncoded, popular rockers Still Standin’, and headliner Jordy Jackson.

Verona Housing Water and Wastewater Master Plan Open House Materials

Thanks to everyone who attended the first Open House in Verona on April 19, 2023 on the next phase in the Verona Master Plan project, a study to assess various communal water and wastewater servicing options. The Verona Housing Master Plan outlines the strategic direction for a municipally-led mixed housing development in the village of Verona.

Level One Fire Ban Lifted in South Frontenac April 24, 2023

Effective Monday, April 24, 2023, at 8:00 am, the Level One fire ban has been lifted across the Township of South Frontenac. Conditions have improved due to the amount of rain that fell over the past week and on the weekend.

This means residents can return to having open air fires including cooking fires, camp fires, and approved incinerator or brush pile fires that are in compliance with the Township’s burning By-law 2012-68.
