Touch the Truck 2025

South Frontenac is revving up for the return of its popular Touch the Truck event, set to take place on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at The Point Park in Sydenham (rain date of May 8). Held in conjunction with Emergency Preparedness Week, the event invites families to explore emergency and service vehicles up close while learning valuable safety tips from local public and emergency service providers.

Residents of all ages can get hands-on with a wide range of vehicles, including firetrucks, ambulances, police cruisers, utility trucks, and more. Children can climb aboard the equipment and meet the frontline people who keep our community safe and running smoothly.

“This event is a great way to promote preparing for an emergency in a fun, interactive environment,” says Mayor Ron Vandewal. “It’s also a fantastic opportunity for families to connect with the people who serve and protect South Frontenac every day. This is a vital showcase put on by our Public Services Department.”

In addition to the vehicle displays and safety demonstrations, attendees can enjoy a cash BBQ in support of New Leaf Link, with all proceeds supporting their community programs. The event will also feature a “Stuff the Truck” food drive in support of Southern Frontenac Community Services. Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food donation to help stock the shelves for those in need in the community.

The Utilities Kingston Water Buggy will also be on site to keep everyone refreshed! Families are encouraged to bring their refillable water bottles and stay hydrated throughout the event.
Parking is available at Loughborough Public School and Sydenham High School and families can walk to the park or take the free shuttle bus to and from the event. Don’t forget your camera — there will be plenty of great photo opportunities!
