Touch the Truck

May 7th, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, The Point Park, Sydenham

Touch the Truck

Aligning with Emergency Preparedness (EP) Week, which takes place the first full week of May, Touch the Truck features many activities focused on what families can do to plan for different emergencies. Of course, there are lots of big trucks and equipment to explore, with South Frontenac’s Public Services, South Frontenac Fire and Rescue, Frontenac OPP, and Frontenac Paramedics all participating in the event.

Rain date: May 8th

We're revving up for the return of Touch the Truck!

2025 Event Information

During Emergency Preparedness Week, residents of all ages can get hands-on with a wide range of vehicles, including fire trucks, ambulances, police cruisers, utility trucks, and more at Touch the Truck. Children can climb aboard the equipment and meet the frontline people who keep our community safe and running smoothly. We'll feature displays by:

  • South Frontenac Public Services
  • South Frontenac Fire and Rescue
  • Frontenac OPP
  • Frontenac Paramedics
  • Frontenac Municipal Law Enforcement
  • Several community social service agencies

In addition to the vehicle displays and safety demonstrations, attendees can enjoy a cash BBQ in support of New Leaf Link, with all proceeds supporting their community programs. The event will also feature a “Stuff the Truck” food drive in support of Southern Frontenac Community Services — attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food donation to help stock the shelves for those in need.

Plus, the Utilities Kingston Water Buggy will be on site to keep everyone refreshed! Families are encouraged to bring their refillable water bottles and stay hydrated throughout the event.

Parking and Shuttle Bus

Parking is available at Loughborough Public School and Sydenham High School and families can walk to the park or take the free shuttle bus to and from the event. The shuttle bus is generously provided by Robert Hogan’s Bus Lines.

Emergency Preparedness (EP) Week - May 4th - 10th, 2025
Be Prepared. Know your Risks.

Natural hazards may be beyond our control, but there are ways to reduce the risk and the impact of whatever emergency we might face.

Emergency Preparedness Week encourages people in Canada to take concrete actions to be better prepared to protect themselves and their household during emergencies. This special week is a national effort lead by Public Safety Canada, provincial and territorial emergency management organizations, Indigenous organizations, non-governmental organizations, and private sector.

By taking a few simple steps, you can become better prepared to face a range of emergencies – anytime, anywhere. It is important to:

  • Know the risks – Although the consequences of disasters can be similar, knowing the risks specific to our community and our region can help you better prepare
  • Make a plan – It will help you and your family know what to do
  • Get an emergency kit – During an emergency, we will all need some basic supplies. We may need to get by without power or tap water. Be prepared to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours in an emergency

Visit www.getprepared.ca for more resources to help you and your family prepare for all types of emergencies.

This week, South Frontenac encourages you to take concrete actions to be better prepared. Please do your part! Experience has shown that individual preparedness goes a long way to help people cope better – both during and after a major disaster. Get an emergency kit now – it can make a world of difference.
