In response to the amended guidelines provided by the Provincial government on April 17, 2021, the Township will be reopening some recreational facilities and previously closed waste disposal sites for public use. 

Effective April 21, 2021, the Loughborough and Portland Waste Disposal sites will be open on their regular scheduled days and times, as follows:

  • Portland waste disposal site is open Wednesdays & Saturdays, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
  • Loughborough waste disposal site is open Saturdays & Mondays, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
  • Household hazardous waste site remains open every Thursday from 3:00 – 8:00 pm during the summer.

Also effective Wednesday, April 21, 2021, the following recreational facilities will be reopened for public use:

  • Play structures, swings, slides and climbers
  • Centennial Park’s Off-leash dog park

Play structures and the Township’s dog park can be used by residents and their children provided a physical distance of at least two metres from others outside their household is maintained (this does not apply to members of one other household who live alone, or a caregiver for any member of either household).

Additionally, all Township owned boat launches remain available for public use. Residents are reminded that social gatherings with individuals outside your household are not permitted, and that proper physical distancing must be maintained while utilizing public boat launches.

All other outdoor recreational facilities will remain closed for the duration of the provincial lockdown. Residents can continue to walk through open park spaces and along trails, but must maintain physical distance from others of approximately 2 metres or 6 ft.

Please note that all Township staff remain available by phone or email during regular business hours, to respond to regular inquiries, questions or concerns.

General Reminders

Residents are reminded of the need to stay safe and stay vigilante during this third wave of the pandemic. The current provincial lockdown requires that all Ontario residents refrain from interacting with individuals outside their household and limit trips out of their house for only the following necessities:

  • the grocery store or pharmacy,
  • health care services (including getting vaccinated),
  • outdoor exercise or walking pets in your community,
  • work that cannot be done remotely,
  • child care or school.
