Friday, June 21, 2024 is National indigenous Peoples Day. Here are some events events and activities taking place in our region to recognize and celebrate Indigenous culture and community. All events are free.

National Indigenous Persons Day celebrations

11 am – 4 pm
City Park, Kingston
Market and food vendors, obstacle course, rock climbing wall, children and youth activities, organized by the Kingston Native Centre and Language Nest.

2nd Line Bluegrass free concert

6 pm
Market Square, Kingston

Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival – Ottawa – June 21-23

Free performances and interactive workshops that share and celebrate the diverse Indigenous cultures of Canada. Features a virtual pow wow and live competition pow wow. See summersolsticefestivals.ca.

Elbow Lake Environmental Education Centre

1500 Hewlett-Packard Lane, Perth Road Village
Hike the fully accessible Red Trail at Elbow Lake and explore the various habitats while learning about Indigenous practices and knowledge from the trail’s interpretive signs. Funded in part from a community grant from South Frontenac Township.
