 For Immediate Release

Effective February 10th, 2021, the Government of Ontario placed KFL&A Public Health in the Green-Prevent level of its updated COVID-19 Response Framework. This means that South Frontenac and the KFL&A region will no longer be subject to the Stay-at-Home order.

As a result of this announcement, the Township will reopen its office doors to the public in the Village of Sydenham at 4432 George Street and at 2490 Keeley Road, effective Tuesday, February 16th 2021 at 8:00 am.

The following steps are being taken to ensure we all remain safe and that our staff and facilities are prepared for the public’s return:

  • Patrons will be required to wear a mask when entering the building. Should a patron enter our facilities without a mask, they will be asked to leave.
  • Office areas that are open to the public will continue to be sanitized with a special Clorox 360 disinfectant fogging system on a regular schedule.
  • The Township will continue to accept inquiries through its website or by telephone or email in order to minimize risk to customers and employees. The Township encourages the use of these channels whenever possible.
  • Offices are open to the public for typical transactions such as submitting applications, processing payments, and answering standard questions; however, patrons are asked to make an appointment for any inquiries or transactions that will require a greater amount of staff time or attention. This ensures staff availability and preparedness, and prevents longer lineups.
  • When accessing Township offices, customers will be expected to adhere to the following guidelines:
    • Ensure you do not feel ill or exhibit any symptoms related to COVID-19.
    • Follow the posted line queuing protocols & social distancing floor decals.
    • Only one (1) customer can enter at a time, to a maximum of two (2) people per household.
    • Debit or cheques are the preferred form of payment during this time.
    • The drop-box at the front door at 4432 George Street in Sydenham remains available to drop off applications and payments.

At this time, all other Township indoor facilities will remain closed to the public and facility rentals will not be accepted.

Building & Planning Service Delivery Updates

  • Inspectors will not engage in interpersonal contact at sites;
  • Inspectors will resume conducting interior inspections;
  • Prior to attending sites, staff will inquire if any persons on the site or related to the site are exhibiting symptoms associated with COVID-19, have been exposed to a probable case of the virus, or are in self-isolation

For additional inquiries regarding building permits or inspections, please contact the Building Department by phone at 613-376-3027 ext. 2226 or by email at building@southfrontenac.net .
