This Wednesday is National indigenous Peoples Day. Here are some events or activities you can do that day close to home to recognize and celebrate the history, heritage, resilience and diversity of Indigenous Peoples. All events are free.

New StoryWalk® launch at The Point Park in Sydenham
2:30 – 4:00 pm, Point Park, Sydenham
Families are invited to check out the new StoryWalk® installed at The Point Park and meet Township staff who will answer questions about the display. The first book on display is “It’s a Mitig” by Bridget George, an Anishinaabe author from the shore of Lake Huron in the First Nations community of Kettle and Stony Point.

National Indigenous Persons Day celebrations
10 – 6 pm
City Park, Kingston
With live performers, children and youth programming, artists alley, local Indigenous vendors, community resources fair and more. Learn more.

Digging Roots free concert
7 pm
Market Square, Kingston
Juno-award winning Digging Roots is playing a free concert for National Indigenous Peoples Day in Market Square in Kingston on June 21st at 7 pm. Reserve your tickets here.

Elbow Lake Environmental Education Centre
1500 Hewlett-Packard Lane, Perth Road Village
Hike the new fully accessible Red Trail at Elbow Lake and explore the various habitats while learning about Indigenous practices and knowledge from the trail’s interpretive signs. Funded in part from a Community Grant from South Frontenac Township.
