We are now accepting applications for our 2024 Lake Ecosystem Grant Program. The deadline for applications is August 9, 2024. 

Our Lake Ecosystem Grant Program supports projects focused on encouraging the preservation, restoration, monitoring and analysis of lake ecosystems within South Frontenac.

The program funds grants up to $10,000 with larger requests considered on an exceptional basis to lake associations and non-profit organizations looking to make positive changes within their lake...

Sydenham Lake Bridge and Dam Rehabilitation Work

Rehabilitation work is beginning on Sydenham Lake bridge and dam in the village of Sydenham near Foodland and Home Hardware.

The bridge and dam was constructed around 1978 and needs rehabilitation to extend its life. The Township will be partnering with the Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority, the dam operator, on this project.

Work will begin in May 2024 and will take 10-12 weeks with completion in August 2024. The road and sidewalk will be accessible at all times with occasional single-lane...

Touch the Truck Moved to May 9

Due to thunderstorms in the forecast, we are moving our Touch the Truck event to tomorrow, Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 4-7 pm at the Point Park in Sydenham.

Come out tomorrow when the sun is shining and get up close to big trucks and equipment from South Frontenac Fire and Rescue, Public Services, Frontenac OPP, and Frontenac Paramedics and see displays from local community organizations.

Parking is available at Loughborough Public School and Sydenham High School with a free shuttle bus running...

Geese Control Measures in Sydenham to Include Herding Dogs and Birds of Prey

South Frontenac Township will be using birds of prey and herding dogs at Sydenham Point Park this spring to keep geese away and keep the park and beach clean and safe so it can remain open this summer. The birds of prey are from Royal Canadian Falconry in Haliburton.

New Load Restrictions in Effect for Brass Point Bridge

Parks Canada has advised that the load rating for vehicles on two bridges – Brass Point Swing and Brass Point Fixed – are being reduced from 15 tonnes to 10 tonnes effective mid-May, 2024. These bridges are located on Burnt Hills Road and connect the Township of South Frontenac with the City of Kingston.

Parks Canada recently engaged bridge consultants who assessed both bridges, recommending a full replacement of the timber swing bridge and significant rehabilitation work for the fixed bridge.
