Community thrives here

Volunteering in South Frontenac

South Frontenac is built on a deep-rooted spirit of community involvement. Volunteers are the heart and soul of rural communities, driving initiatives and making a real difference. The vitality of our various clubs, associations, and minor sports leagues is a direct result of the countless hours of volunteer dedication each year.

Join us in celebration of the hard work done this year!

2024 Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon

Community volunteers are invited to Council’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon happening on November 16, from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm at the Sydenham Legion Hall.

Lunch will be provided by Rampant Kitchen, and we are looking forward to celebrating the hard work that our community volunteers do to make South Frontenac a vibrant and welcoming rural community.

The RSVP deadline for the luncheon has now passed. If you would like more information on the program, please email recsupport@southfrontenac.net

Recognition through the years

Since 1999, the Township has presented awards to individuals who have provided outstanding volunteer service in the Township. Community volunteers play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of South Frontenac. The recipient (up to four per year) were nominated by peers for their contribution to the community.

In 2019, Council suggested a program refresh, as the number of nominations have been declining over the years. After hearing feedback from Council, the Recreation Committees, and other community members, a broader celebration recognizing the work of community volunteers has been developed in the form of an annual Volunteer Appreciation Event.

Additionally, a youth volunteer recognition component has been established as Council recognizes that positive reinforcement for volunteerism has the potential to foster a life-long desire to give back to the community. This in turn can create a culture of engaged and motivated citizens for years to come.
