South Frontenac Declares Significant Weather Event
As of 3:00 pm on February 12, 2025, the Township of South Frontenac has declared a Significant Weather Event in accordance with Ontario Regulation 239/02. All roads and sidewalks maintained by the Municipality will be in a “state of repair” until the declaration has been lifted.
Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for our area and the Townships weather reports are forecasting 30 cm of snow to accumulate throughout the evening/overnight on Wednesday, February 12 into the morning of Thursday, February 13. In addition to this mid-week snowfall, another 10-15 cm of snow is forecast for the weekend.
A significant weather event is defined as an approaching or occurring weather hazard with the potential to pose a significant danger to the users of highways (streets and roads) within a municipality. This declaration is not a notice of closed roads, and the Township remains diligent in providing continued winter maintenance to ensure public safety. Drivers and pedestrians are encouraged to use an appropriate level of caution when traveling during this event and are asked to be mindful of snowplows as they continue to clear township roads.
Residents with questions can contact the Public Services Department by calling 613-376-3027 or by emailing at pwsupport@southfrontenac.net (email monitored Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm). The community’s support is greatly appreciated at this time.
