Pitch-In Week for Earth Day

Pitch-In Week is returning to South Frontenac April 18-25, 2025. Pitch-In is a community-wide clean up where residents and community groups get together to help clean up roadsides and greenspaces to keep South Frontenac beautiful. It’s easy to pitch in—you can pick up garbage by yourself, with your family or neighbours, or organize a group.

Here is how you can get involved:

• South Frontenac provides special biodegradable pitch-in bags free of charge to residents. No garbage tag is required. You can pick up the bags at local retailers who sell our garbage bag tags or from our 2490 Keeley Road or the Temporary Administration office at 4412 Wheatley Street offices between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm starting Monday, April 7.
• Put out bags with your regular garbage collection the week of April 22. Due to the Easter Weekend, collection will be one day later throughout the week in the Township.
• With the early spring, we know some residents may have bags left from previous years and want to pitch in early. We ask you hold on to any bags collected and put them out the week of April 22 when we have resources to handle the extra volumes.
• Township staff will be out on Earth Day, April 22, 2025, to help with the clean up, so please watch for crews on the side of the road.

Remember to watch for traffic, be road wise, be visible, wear protective gear, especially gloves and appropriate footwear. Call the Solid Waste Department at 613-376-3027 if you need any help. 

Earth Day is Tuesday, April 22, 2025. The theme for this year is Our Power, Our Plant - inviting everyone around the globe to unite behind renewable energy, and to triple the global generation of clean electricity by 2030.
