In Remembrance of former Mayor Bill Lake
We would like to share our greatest sympathies to the family of former Mayor Bill Lake, who passed away on February 14, 2025. Bill Lake served his community first as a member of the public-school board and later served as Councillor and Deputy Reeve in the former Storrington Township. Following amalgamation, he served as a Council and later as Mayor (2004-2006 Term of Council).
“Mayor Lake was a committed member of the South Frontenac community,” says current Mayor Ron Vandewal. “He was a skilled carpenter (local #249), a hard worker and was a lifetime member of the Battersea United Church. We know his sons, their families and his companion Shirley Neil, will greatly miss Bill. South Frontenac is better because of his work and dedication.”
The Lake Family will receive friends on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the Battersea United Church between 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm. A Masonic service will be held, however, timing has not yet been finalized, please check www.jamesreidfuneralhome.com for details. Funeral proceedings will be held at the Battersea United Church on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 2 pm with a graveside service at Sandhill Cemetery to follow. A reception (Celebration of Life) will be held at the Storrington Lions Club, following the service, from 3 pm to 8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Battersea United Church.
