Development Charges Background Study

We recently completed a background study on development charges which is now posted on our website for viewing and comment. Development charges are how municipalities help cover costs from roads to fire stations to libraries. The purpose of development charges is to recover the growth-related costs of capital infrastructure needed to service new development and redevelopment in the municipality. 

South Frontenac’s current Development Charges By-law 2019-48 was passed by Council on August 6, 2019. 

Council will consider a new by-law on development charges at its July 16, 2024 meeting. A public meeting to get input into the by-law will be held on June 20, 2024. Look for the registration link for the meeting on our Events Calendar on our website closer to the meeting date.
