Canada Post on Strike - What to Know

On November 15, 2024, The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) announced that they will strike. Canada Post mail will not be processed or distributed. We ask that you not put payments and other time-sensitive documents in the mail. Please read the various payment options listed below.

Pay/View Taxes and Sydenham Water Bills

Despite the interruptions with the mail service, you are still responsible for paying bills on time.

You can pay online, at your bank, or in person at the Sydenham Library meeting room at 4412 Wheatley St. 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. A drop box is located outside the library for residents making in-person payments outside of those hours.

Residents can also send an email to taxes@southfrontenac.net or call our offices at 613-376-3027, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday for account balance inquires.

Entrance Permit Deposit Cheques

Public Services will inform you either by phone or email when your cheque is ready to be picked up. Cheques can be picked up at our temporary main office at 4412 Wheatley St.

Pay in Person 

• Payments can be made in person at the Sydenham Library meeting room at 4412 Wheatley St. The office is open 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. A drop box is located outside the library for residents making in-person payments outside of those hours.
• Pay provincial offences fines at Provincial Offences Court at 362 Montreal St. from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday 
• To purchase extra garbage bag tags, you can buy extra bag tags for $2 each at these locations:

• Fisherman's Hardware and Auto Shop - 139 Main Street, Seeleys Bay

Hydro Payments 

• If you typically make payments to your hydro account using a cheque, you will need to set up online banking, visit your bank to pay in person, or set-up a credit card payment. Please check with your hydro service provider.

Housing and Social Services correspondence 

• You can bring all correspondence to Housing and Social Services, including documents for Ontario Works, to 362 Montreal St. during regular business hours or by using the 24-hour drop box – again, please do not place cash in this box.
• Residents of South Frontenac may pick up social assistance cheques in person at 362 Montreal St., with identification.
• Residents of North and Central Frontenac Townships may pick up cheques in person on Nov. 29, 2024, at the Sharbot Lake office, Rural Frontenac Community Services, 1109 Garrett St. Sharbot Lake, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. After the scheduled Sharbot Lake office pick-up day, cheques may be picked up at 362 Montreal St. 

Building & Development

Applications, requests, fees, and time-sensitive documents can be delivered in person to the Development Services office at 3910 Battersea Road between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.  There is a drop box at this location.  Fees can be paid in person or on-line.

Other correspondence 

If you need to give a letter or other non-bill correspondence to the Township of South Frontenac, please drop it off between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the appropriate municipal customer counter.
