South Frontenac Fire and Rescue slip and slide at Point Park

South Frontenac Township is set to celebrate Canada Day on July 1st with lots of family friendly activities throughout the community during the day, and one spectacular firework finale. This year, the fireworks will be held at dusk at Gerald Ball Park in Sunbury. Here is a list of events happening on Canada Day:

  • 8 am – 10:30 am: Bedford celebrations at Glendower Hall, 1381 Westport Road, hosted by Bedford community members. Featuring a free pancake breakfast with live music from Jess Wedden and Chris Murphy.
  • 11 am – 4 pm: Harrowsmith celebrations at Centennial Park, 4500 Centennial Park Road, hosted by the Harrowsmith S&A Club. The day will be filled with live music, children’s games and crafts, a canteen, and a vendor’s market.
  • 11 am – 4 pm: Sydenham celebrations at The Point Park, 4410 Point Road, hosted by the Loughborough Canada Day Committee. The event will be bustling with live music featuring Turpin’s Trail and Hoozhear, food vendors, and kids’ activities.
  • 11 am – 4 pm: Sunbury celebrations, at the Storrington Lions Hall, 2992 Princess Road, hosted by the Storrington Lions Club. Live music with Jeff Code, a comedy magic show, South Frontenac Fire and Rescue foam hose nozzle (bring a bathing suit and towel), and kids’ activities.
  • 9:45 pm: Canada Day Firework finale at Gerald Ball Park in Sunbury with shuttle buses taking residents to and from the fireworks show from 12 different locations across the Township. Rain date of July 2.

See southfrontenac.net/Canada-day for full details on all events happening including shuttle bus locations.

“Canada Day is special in South Frontenac”, says Mayor Ron Vandewal. “The day is filled with so much for families to do across the whole community. Some of our fondest memories as kids are created at the Canada Day events. The fireworks show is sure to be phenomenal once again this year. Shuttle buses are being provided, so please use this service and let’s celebrate this wonderful community we live in.”

This is the second year of hosting one fireworks show. Last year, the fireworks were in Sydenham, and in 2025 they will be at Centennial Park in Harrowsmith.

Important Safety Reminders:

  • Canada Day events are often very busy. Residents are reminded to slow down and drive with extreme caution, particularly near the event sites at Glendower Hall, Centennial Park, The Point Park, and the Storrington Lions Hall.
  • Residents are reminded that pets often do not enjoy fireworks as much as their humans do. Please ensure pets are kept inside or tied up securely during the fireworks to prevent lost pets.

Volunteers are always needed. If you are interested in helping out at any of the events, email recsupport@southfrontenac.net.
