    Canada Day Celebrations in South Frontenac 2024

    South Frontenac Township is set to celebrate Canada Day on July 1st with lots of family friendly activities throughout the community during the day, and one spectacular firework finale. This year, the fireworks will be held at dusk at Gerald Ball Park in Sunbury.

    Multi-day heat warning issued for KFL&A region

    Environment Canada has issued a warning for a multi-day heat event that begins Monday and is expected to last most of the week for the City of Kingston and Frontenac and Lennox and Addington counties. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach between 30ºC to 35ºC, with minimum temperatures falling between 18ºC to 23ºC, bringing little relief from the heat.

    Our Township offices and garages will be closed Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from noon until 2 pm for a Staff Appreciation Lunch.

    If you have business you need conducted, please plan to visit us in the morning or after 2 pm.

    South Frontenac Township Unveils Plans for Town Hall Expansion

    South Frontenac Township has unveiled its plans for expanding its Town Hall and municipal offices at 4432 George Street in Sydenham.

    Rogers 5G Mobile Services Now Available in Parts of County of Frontenac

    (Peterborough, ON) – June 3, 2024 – The Eastern Ontario Regional Network (EORN), the Government of Canada, the Government of Ontario, and Rogers Communications have announced that Rogers 5G mobile services are now available in 21 communities across Eastern Ontario, including the County of Frontenac. Forty-two new cell towers and four additional upgrades to existing sites are completed, offering Rogers 5G mobile services to residents, businesses and visitors.

    Free Parks and Recreation Month Event in Verona

    **LOCATION UPDATE** Due to thunderstorms in the forecast, we are moving the location of this event to the Verona Lions Hall, 4504 Sand Road, Verona. All activities will go on as planned outside on the grounds weather permitting or indoors if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

    Recreation Fee and Facility Allocation Study

    Our Recreation, Parks, and Leisure Master Plan called for a comprehensive review of recreation service fees, facility rental fees, allocation policies, and procedures. We engaged Sierra Planning to help complete the review. The goal is to ensure recreation service delivery is fair, efficient, equitable, sustainable, and transparent across all services and facilities managed or owned by the Township.

    Road 38 Design Study Public Open House

    At the May 21, 2024, Council meeting, Safe Roads Engineering presented its findings on the preliminary design for a 5.8 km section of Road 38 between Murton Road and Kingston Road. Pavement condition ratings on the highway are among the poorest ratings in the arterial network and the corridor serves over 8,100 vehicles daily. The design study presentation is now posted on the Road 38 project page on engagefrontenac.

    June kicks off a month-long of community and cultural celebrations in South Frontenac, starting with Pride Month, Parks and Recreation Month activities, National Indigenous Peoples Day and culminating with Canada Day celebrations on July 1.
