When you set up a business in South Frontenac, there are friendly faces to help you succeed. Whether you need a loan or help with applying for grants, business advice, training, or marketing support, you’ll have access to expertise to help you be successful.

Frontenac Business Services

Frontenac Business Services is funded by the Government of Canada to provide business advice and loan services. They offer no-cost business consultations to explore starting a new business, or to discuss an existing business. They also offer flexible commercial loans to new and existing businesses when financials from traditional sources may be unavailable or insufficient.

Frontenac County

The Frontenac County economic development team focuses on building a strong economy in the region. In 2015, the County developed an Economic Development Charter to guide economic activity and a regional brand identity in 2016. The County harnesses the energy and passion of Frontenac Ambassadors, a growing group of local business owners who are committed to working together to support each other and promote the region.

Kingston Economic Development

Our unique partnership with the Kingston Economic Development Corporation provides access to data, supports and resources, more than most municipalities and Townships our size can offer.

Kingston Economic Development is home to the regional Small Business Enterprise Centre, which offers workshops, business coaching and programs such as Starter Company Plus and Summer Company to entrepreneurs. Startups and business owners from South Frontenac are welcome! 

Frontenac Employment Resource Centre (St. Lawrence College Employment Services)

Located in Sydenham, the Frontenac Employment Resource Centre provides free counselling and job search services and acts as a key liaison for local businesses seeking skilled local labour and talent.

Eastern Workforce Innovation Board

The Eastern Workforce Innovation Board is one of 21 non-profit, community boards in Ontario comprised of volunteers from business, labour, education and community groups. Their mission is to provide leadership in labour market planning across Ontario through a collaborative forum.

Frontenac Discovery Guide app

The Frontenac Discovery Guide is a mobile app that highlights local businesses and encourages residents and visitors to the region to visit. Community members are encouraged to sign up and collect points at each local business they visit. Points are redeemable for a variety of rewards at local businesses.

Open Farm Days and events

Each year, the region celebrates local agriculture, producers and suppliers during Open Farm Days, held late summer and into the fall. Visitors participate in farm experiences, culinary and special events. The annual event is a great way to be involved and gain exposure for your agriculture-based business.
